New partnership to support local and international projects

24 January 2018

The Rotary Club of Cleveland has welcomed Teesside University as its first Corporate Member.

This exciting partnership will see the two organisations working together on a number of projects to help people, communities and organisations on a local basis, as well as projects internationally.

The Rotary Club of Cleveland is based at Acklam Rugby Club and the initial focus will be to help the nearby Easterside Community.

Working alongside Tees Valley Sport, the Rotary Club and Teesside University will help 14 to 19-year-olds who are inactive to get involved with a sporting activity. There will also be a Community Games event targeting children and their parents to try out some new sports and activities.

Teesside University will also help Rotary support a project helping poor and deprived children in The Gambia. Links have already been established and it is hoped that further supplies of educational equipment, books and schoolroom furniture can be sent to The Gambia where the help is much needed.

It is hoped that this link-up will also help the students at Teesside University to become involved in joint projects to further their own personal development and learn new skills.

We are delighted to be the first corporate member of the Rotary Club of Cleveland and are excited to be working in partnership with them.

Gary Crawley.
