Teesside University alumni in Malaysia celebrate Class of 2017

22 February 2018

A special dinner has been held to celebrate the graduation of over 225 students who completed Teesside University programmes in Malaysia in 2017.

The event, which was hosted in Kuala Lumpur by Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Professor Paul Croney and organised by Teesside’s South East Asia team, welcomed over 60 guests from the region.

Attendees included senior academics from UiTM, Southern UC, Hyper Island Singapore, International Islamic College and members of Teesside University’s senior executive team.

Alumni in attendance ranged from Class of 2016 right through to one Malaysian member of Teesside’s international alumni association who graduated 30 years ago. Patrick Gerard A/L A D Thavarajah studied Beng (Hons) Instrumentation Control and Engineering in the late 1980s at Teesside University and now works as a Director at Incontrol Works Sdn Bhd Malaysia.

BeeBee Gan, Director for South East Asia, commented:

“It was fantastic to see so many new and familiar faces at our alumni dinner. When you graduate from Teesside, it is the end of your studies, but the beginning of a life-long membership of our 100,000-strong global alumni network.

The guests here tonight clearly have a special bond with Teesside University and it was great to hear them exchanging memories about their time as a student with us and sharing their life and career experiences since graduation.”
