And as vegan and plant-based ways of eating continue to gain in popularity, there is increased interest in diets which minimise processed and refined foods.

Twins and renowned wholefood and plant-based chefs David and Stephen Flynn will share their message about healthy eating at a special evening lecture at Teesside University.

The twins, also known as The Happy Pear, will present a talk on Monday 4 March, from 5.30pm to 7.00pm, in the University’s Centuria Building, Room H0.01.

The award-winning authors and YouTube stars aim to make a healthier lifestyle accessible to all, while encouraging people to eat more vegetables.

The twins’ latest book, Recipes for Happiness, became a bestseller in their native Ireland within three days of release and debuted in the top 10 bestseller list in the UK. Recipe for Happiness includes a range of vegan and vegetarian recipes, along with a section devoted to their philosophy on happiness.

The Happy Pear has branded food products, cafes and wholefood stores. David and Stephen are presenting their talk as part of a wider University event taking place earlier in the day, when local schoolchildren will be involved in workshops to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The Happy Pear evening talk is open to members of the public. Please arrive at 5.30pm for 5.45pm start. The Happy Pear will speak for around one hour, followed by a short Q&A.
