1999

Simon Robert Halcrow, NVQ3 Systems Analysis and IT, is currently studying for an HND in Computing at the University of Teesside, as well as running his own business - Tees Communication Services.

Yannis Konstantinopoulos, BA (Hons) Business Economics, is currently studying for an MSc in International Management at the University of Teesside.

Evangelos Kovaios, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, is currently undertaking an MSc in Multimedia Applications at the University of Teesside.

Stylianos Michailidis, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, is currently working as a Systems Engineer for British Telecom in York, where he completed his work placement during the third year of his degree course.

Leigh Stapleton, BA (Hons) History, is currently working as a Registry Officer of Medical Admissions at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine in London.

Modestos Stavrakis, BA (Hons) Creative Visualisation, is currently studying for an MSc in Computer-Aided Graphical Technology Applications at the University of Teesside.

Karen Williams, BA (Hons) Business Studies, is currently working at the University of Teesside as an Administrator for the Student Ambassador Scheme.

1998

Samantha Metcalfe, BA (Hons) Accounting and Law, is working towards achieving the graduate basis for registration as a chartered psychologist with a Diploma in Psychology at Teesside. She would like to specialise in Forensic Psychology.

Neil Watson, BA (Hons) History and Politics, and Alison Charlesworth, BA (Hons) Sociology, have been accepted for an MSc in Information Management and an MA in Librarianship respectively, at the University of Sheffield.

Carol White, BA (Hons) Business Administration, is a Business Management Trainee for UCB Films Plc in Wigton, Cumbria. After hearing about the post through the Careers Service at the University and encouraged by the advice of Rob Hunter, an employee of UCB who hosted their stand at the University's Careers Fair, she succeeded in getting the job despite fierce competition. Her two-year training involves learning about aspects of the business in Wigton, with the possibility of visiting the other UCB sites throughout the world.

1997

Ahmad AM Sharif, BSc Information Technology, returned to his home country of Dubai and is currently working as a Computer Systems Engineer in the Dubai Higher College of Technology.

1996

Joann Alsdorf, BA (Hons) Marketing. After her year's placement on Teesside, she joined British Steel as a graduate trainee and finished as a shipping manager. She is currently based at Pioneer International in Portsmouth as a Sales Manager.

Alan Bell, BSc (Hons) Business Computing, is now an IT Project Manager for Unilever on the Wirral, Merseyside, in his home town of Liverpool. Alan lives there with his girlfriend Lisa Wilson, BA (Hons) Interior Design, who graduated in 1995. After gaining an MA in Design Management at the University of Birmingham, Lisa is now an Art Buyer for McCann Erikson.

Ian Richardson, BA (Hons) Marketing, managed to gain a place at a well-known advertising and marketing agency upon completion of his course. With over two years of quality agency experience under his belt, he has gone on to form 'Interface' with his partners, which offers clients a complete range of services, from new media design to print buying. 1995

Tina Dempsey (nee Freer), BA (Hons) Business Studies, married Myles Dempsey, BSc (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (1992). Tina is now a full-time mum and Myles is a Support Manager for a computer company in Barnsley.

Kevin Leadbeater, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, married Rachel McIntyre, BA (Hons) Social Policy (1993). They live in Munich where Kevin works for the European Southern Observatory as a Systems Administrator. Rachel trained as a youth worker in Oxford before returning to Middlesbrough in 1995 to marry. She is now studying German in order to be able to communicate with local teenagers.

1994

Brenda Hering (nee Hislop), Diploma in Management Studies, was awarded a Master of Business Administration at Sheffield Hallam University in 1998.

Jason Redgers, BEng (Hons) Civil and Structural Engineering, worked for four years at the Transport Research Laboratory in Berkshire, where he completed a part-time MSc in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Surrey. He has spent the past two years in developing countries around the world, such as Uganda, Botswana, Malawi, South Africa, Mozambique, Nepal and Fiji, improving and redeveloping infrastructure, sanitation, roads and bridges.

Darryl Milner, HND Chemical Engineering and Danielle Milner (nee Hall), BA (Hons) Business Administration (1999), met on the American football stand at the Freshers' Fair, which resulted in them marrying in August 1998. Darryl is a Senior Process Engineer with Procter & Gamble, a job which takes him all over the world. He is currently engaged in research and development and starting up new manufacturing equipment associated with hair care. Danielle, after a brief stay at Procter & Gamble, has moved on to work for Lease Plan UK and is now Corporate Account Co-ordinator Team Leader. Although Darryl is still in contact with us at career fairs in his P&G role, he has lost contact with his classmates on the Chemical Engineering course and in the American football team. John Branston, BA (Hons) Business Studies, has become Director of the German Office of PSL Research, a Canadian health care market research and communications agency. John is currently supervising his third placement student from Teesside, Victoria Bannerman, an International Business Studies undergraduate.

Sue Cleminson (nee Rushdale), BA (Hons) Business Studies, married Paul Cleminson, BA (Hons) Business Studies, who is currently a Financial Reporting Supervisor at Caterpillar UK in Leicester.

1990

Stuart Kahn, BSc (Hons) Information Technology, lives in Axminster and married in October 1999. He was to have been married in the Lyme Regis Registry Office but unfortunately a bus demolished the building shortly before the happy event.

1982

Mark Dickson, BSc (Hons) Computer Technology, did an industrial placement year on his sandwich course, which led to full-time employment after his final year. Starting as a Software Developer and moving into Software Management, his job has taken him all over the world. He now lives in Hong Kong and works for CSE International Ltd as a Consulting Engineer.

1973

Tay McEvoy (nee Fiorini), BSc (Hons) Computer Science, has lived and worked in Toronto, Ireland, London and Ontario. In 1991, she formed a multimedia company, Eolas, and together with her husband, a biomedical engineer, produces interactive educational multimedia for colleges and universities. Of late, they are working with a Nobel Prize winner on a Physics CD. You can have a look on www.eolas.ca 1972

Nick Andrews, HND Mathematics, Statistics and Computing, studied for a further two years for an Advanced Diploma in the same subjects. He then worked in a children's nursery and, at the same time, completed a teacher training certificate at Teesside College of Education. He became an infant teacher at Norton Infants School. After relocating to Kent, he finished an MA in Special Education and a postgraduate qualification in Autism. Nick now runs a primary school unit for children with severe and profound learning disabilities. He is married to Kay and has a son, Lee. Kay Hutchinson Andrews, BSc (Hons) Sociology, started her career as a Probation Officer. After completing her CQSW and MA at Kent University, Kay worked in Middlesbrough, 'over the border' in St Hilda's, for five years. Then she moved to Kent and worked as a Senior Probation Officer, until 1998 when she retrained to teach English. She is now teaching English to Kosovans, prisoners and English language students from many countries. Elizabeth Turner Gordon O'Brien, BSc Sociology, was awarded a PGCE from Sheffield City College. Liz began her teaching career at a primary school in Newcastle. In 1974, she moved to the Newman School, Rotherham, a special school for children with disabilities and medical conditions. Liz is married to John from Liverpool and has a son, Andrew John and a daughter, Laura Elizabeth.

Phil Senior, BSc Computer Science, joined Conoco Europe in London. After a couple of years he moved to St Louis, Missouri, USA, and joined the CAD/CAM software revolution, becoming a sales manager for the Far East territory (Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore). A second trip to Houston followed in the mid 80s, before he returned to England and a job at Davy Computing. In 1991, Phil started his own business and sells Autocad software in the north of England. Phil is married to Sheila from Holmfirth and they have two children, Glenn and Marsha. Alan Worsley, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, had spells with British Steel and North Yorkshire County Council before becoming a computer consultant. After a few years, he became a payroll/time management software product developer and business owner in Harrogate. He sold his share of the business in 1994 and retired to France. He has now returned to England with aspirations of becoming an all-powerful 'web master'. Alan has been married to Wendy from Hartlepool since 1969 and they have a son, David and a daughter, Stephanie.
