Study Support

What if I haven't chosen the right course for me?
If you are having doubts about your course, speak to your personal tutor. If you wish to transfer, you should contact a student adviser who will explain the process to you.

At Teesside, advisers are based both within Student Services and the Advice Centre within the Students' Union

How will I cope with lectures, seminars and getting the information correct?
Your timetable will be given to you during your school/faculty induction. While you will be expected to study and read about your subjects outside of your timetabled lectures and seminars, this should not take up all of your spare time.

University life is about much more than just academic work and you will have the opportunity to be involved in many activities should you choose to. The number of hours you do will depend largely on the course you are studying but you will know more once you have enrolled and received your timetable

I'm worried about public speaking and speaking in front of peers what should I do?
Don't worry. Many people are initially worried about public speaking or speaking in front of their peers. Participation in your seminars will help build your confidence.

Will I get enough support from my lecturers and tutors?
It's important to get advice if you feel you need extra support with your studies. Your personal tutor is there to help with this. Many universities also run study skills workshops which will also help you.
