What brought you to study at Teesside University?

Many reasons affected my decision to join Teesside University - academic staff profiles, the structure of the DBA programme and recommendations from friends.

What is your course like?

My special area of research is Total Quality Management (TQM). I’m investigating the association between implementing TQM and patient’s satisfaction through implementing a set of TQM practices in the healthcare industry. I’m conducting my research project in Dubai and working with another project that investigates the barriers affecting hospital staff in adopting electronic medical records. I had a conference in Malaysia in 2010 to present a paper that explored the relationship between implementing service quality dimensions and its impact on customer satisfaction.

What’s the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course is the flexible mode of study. I get on well with my classmates and my lecturers are all inspirational.

What’s been your favourite module and why?

My favourite module is Research Methods as it’s the most important part of any research degree. It’s important to have a comprehensive understanding of how to conduct a research project. I have an interest in this subject as it’s also part of my job.

Have you done any work experience or an industry placement?

I have 10 years’ experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in quality management and health information management. My past work experience has impacted on my studies in a positive way.

What are your plans and ambitions?

My big dream is to move to an academic job, ideally at Teesside University.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Yes, I would because of the lecturer’s skills, knowledge and experience in the research area, the university facilities and the mode of study.
