    This group, a partnership between Teesside University and South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust, delivers high quality, relevant research, increasing the evidence base for rehabilitation.

    SIE in the School of Health & Social Care, brings together the initiatives and innovations which enhance service user care.

Social Futures Institute (SOFI)
SOFI brings together over 50 specialist researchers concerned with the North East's social and cultural well-being and economic prosperity - and includes these units:

  • Social and policy research
    This unit within the Social Futures Institute carries out externally funded research, policy evaluation and consultancy.
  • Third sector development
    This unit initiates and contributes to discussions and debate relating to the third sector. It informs and influences practice through training courses, consultancy and evaluating the effectiveness of policy.
  • Youth research
    Our youth research unit has a national reputation for research with young people on youth issues. Its cutting-edge, social scientific projects have led to publishing many books, specialist journal articles and reports.
