Einar Thorsen

Einar joined Teesside University in 2008 and teaches Introducing Convergence (Level 1), Journalism Issues and Debates, and Digital Storytelling (both Level 2) on the BA in Multimedia Journalism. He also delivers guest lectures on other modules and is taking a lead on the development of new awards in journalism and e-media.

Einar's research projects include a co-edited book (with Stuart Allan) Citizen Journalism: Global Perspectives to be published by Peter Lang, for which he is also contributing a chapter on the news reporting of climate change. He is also working on chapters for other edited collections dealing with the history of BBC News Online and the development of public service policies in an online environment.

Einar is doing a PhD in Journalism Studies at Bournemouth University, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. His thesis focuses on civic engagement and citizen voices on the BBC News website during the 2005 UK General Election. He is also an active member of the Media, Communications and Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA).
