PRACTICE

The idea of place lies at the core of my practice, especially fleeting encounters experienced during travel; environments and passing landscapes seen only momentarily. Often made in situ, outside the controlled environment of the studio, my paintings employ the formal selectivity which arises from a direct and intuitive response to the visual challenge of the moment. In the studio and in response to particular places my drawings explore a more process-led methodology, drawing on the direct physicality of the process.

TEACHING

Studying Fine Art can, if you let it, radically change the way you see and interact with the world. I work extensively (but not exclusively) with first year students, helping them to develop a vibrant and fun transition into higher education, encouraging an investigative and open approach to the exciting possibilities that lie before them.
