Nicola Wharton

Specialist Service Manager, Primary Care Trust, Darlington

Nicola Wharton is a part-time DProf student undertaking research into people’s perceptions of access to dental services in Darlington. The interest in access to dental services started with the change in the dental contract in 2005, and a sudden increase in emergency and unscheduled dental appointments that the PCT were faced with.

Nicola trained 20 years ago as a nurse, and has a degree in community health with specialist practitioner in community nursing. Her master's is in advancing practice from Teesside, and this led to the DProf in Advancing Practice which enables a combination of doctoral level study with practice based issues.
