Within the public health theme we aim to generate, translate and encourage the application of research evidence in practice. We are an integral part of
Fuse, the Centre for Translational Research in Public Health which is a UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) funded Public Health Centre of Excellence. We are also, through Fuse, members of the
School for Public Health Research (SPHR) .
We strengthened our commitment to this collaborative style of working by appointing a
Professor of Knowledge Exchange in Public Health , and we are also now the location for the Fuse Knowledge Exchange hub, incorporating the AskFuse Manager and Communications Officer.
AskFuse is a responsive advice and evaluation facility. We will use it to build links with policy makers and practitioners and to encourage joint working from the start in order to produce evidence of relevance to real problems.
The public health theme centres on a number of overlapping topics - children and young people's health, oral public health, shift work and health, public health aspects of end of life care, measurement of physical activity and biostatistical analysis. The public health theme also has a strong involvement in evaluating public health interventions and this work is pursued through
CHASE (Centre for Health and Social Evaluation) .
We actively encourage interdisciplinary working, and our researchers bring together a range of expertise from fields including exercise science, nursing, physiology, psychology, public health, research design, sociology, statistics, and systematic reviewing.
Staff researchers working in the public health theme are listed below, where you can view their full biography, research interests and a link to publications. If you are trying to find a researcher by research topic, please try a key word search in the box at the top of this page.
