The alcohol and public health team (Team Alpha) are based in the Institute of Health and Social Care at Teesside University. The team's research focuses on work around reducing alcohol related harm in society, particularly for young people and those in various stages of the criminal justice system.

The Exercise Science and Health Team are based in the Health and Social Care Institute, and have collaborative links with members of the Social Futures Institute. All members of this research team are interested in the associations between physical activity and health outcomes, and how physical activity interventions should be implemented in various populations.

The Teesside Centre for Evidence-Based Practice is an Affiliate Centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). The key aim of the JBI is to promote and support the synthesis, transfer and utilisation of evidence to assist in the improvement of healthcare outcomes, through its global network of collaborating centres.
