Jean Davison is a senior lecturer in research methods in the School of Health & Social Care. She has worked in academia since 1998 and teaches and supports students from a variety of disciplines who are undertaking their research education.

She herself is a PhD student researching ‘The importance of home to older people’. Jean is exploring the views of older people and how these are influenced by societal expectations and stereotypical images of older people.

Jean has an MSc Health Sciences (Research Methods) from the University of Northumbria and her professional background is that of an Occupational Therapist. Qualitative research and in particular critical approaches are of methodological interest to Jean and she also has an interest in marginalised groups such as older people and people with learning disabilities.
