Elizabeth began her career as a Public Health professional working as a senior Public Health commissioner for a local Primary Health Care facility; then moving to be the Head of Health and Well Being Commissioning for an Essex PCT in 2009. This was a high level strategic management role where she was responsible for a team of Public Health commissioners who served a population of over 800,000. 

Now a senior lecturer, Elizabeth specializes in Epidemiology and Public Health as part of the Research Methods team. She is responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, designing programs of study, conducting and supporting research. She has strong networks with health providers, local authority and commercial partners. Elizabeth has a robust track record of achievement in leadership, financial probity and attaining local, national and stretch targets. 

Elizabeth completed a Microbiology BSc degree with Honours and a Masters Degree in Health Sciences Public Health.  She is working towards a PhD aligned with Public Health policies relating to sugar reduction strategies and sugar taxation.  She is experienced in the provision of health interventions provided to large populations and has developed specialist knowledge and skills in Public Health, epidemiology, research methodology, Public Health Commissioning and outcomes measurement/service evaluation.

Research interests

Elizabeth's research interests are primarily Public Health focused, currently around sugar reduction and public health policy.

Elizabeth has also recently conducted research into organisational culture and compassionate care in acute healthcare settings.
