Health and Social Care Institute
Mark is Communications Officer for Fuse. HSCI host Mark whilst he works for Fuse - the Centre for Translational Research in Public Health, a collaboration of five Universities including Teesside. Several Fuse researchers, staff and associate members are also Teesside University staff in HSCI. Fuse itself is one of five Centres in the UK.
Mark trained and worked as a journalist before moving into communications in the HE sector, NHS and third sector. He was appointed to Fuse in May 2011 as Communications Officer, based at Teesside University. Mark's main role involves undertaking the day-to-day development, implantation and administration of Fuse communications and impact. He acts as a point of contact for communications enquiries from a range of stakeholders, liaising with policy and practice partners across the North East of England. Mark also contributes to the development of the Fuse website (www.fuse.ac.uk), Open Science blog (http://fuseopenscienceblog.blogspot.co.uk/), and Twitter account (https://twitter.com/fuse_online). He also responds to media enquiries, and promotes Fuse related success stories by producing internal and external communications including an electronic newsletter and media releases.
Mark's research interests cover all aspects of knowledge exchange and public health and the embedding of research findings into practice, as an officer for Fuse, and also Marketing although his role does not include undertaking academic research.
