About Nina Bedding

Nina is a senior lecturer and placement tutor.  She qualified as an occupational therapist from Ripon and York St John in 1999 and has worked in a variety of physical settings within both the National Health Service and the Independent Sector.  Her clinical interest and passion has always been around physical rehabilitation and stroke care working predominantly with elderly clients requiring rehabilitation , individuals who have had a traumatic brain injury or with people of all ages who have experienced a stroke.

Before joining the team at Teesside University Nina was an occupational therapy service lead in a local Trust.  During this time her work was around the leadership and operational aspects of the service as well as facilitating and managing change in order to develop the service.

Nina joined Teesside University in June 2015 and has since completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, she hopes to further her studies around teaching by engaging in an MA in Education.

Nina’s current areas of interest are around placement provision and placement opportunities whether in a traditional or non-traditional setting.  Her role as placement tutor allows her to explore this and develop the practice placement opportunities here at Teesside University.

Nina works with both the MSc and BSc students to prepare them for practice placement often teaching very practical skills such as moving and handling.  She also teaches on some of the BSc final modules preparing the students for the challenges of practice.
