Gillian graduated from the University of Leeds in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences with a biomedical speciality, and developed a strong interest in public health. This lead to Gillian completing an MSc in Public Health and Health Services Research at Newcastle University in 2013.
Following this, Gillian worked within the Public Health team at North Tyneside Council project managing the implementation of the Healthy Living Pharmacy scheme, assisting with the pilot scheme around introducing NHS health checks into community venues. Gillian was also able to gain her Level 2 award in Understanding Health Improvement from the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH).
Gillian joined Teesside University in May 2015 to start work on her PhD full time. The project is entitled ‘How to get research findings into practice in the changing landscape of public health’ and is funded via Fuse. Gillian is also a member of Team Alpha, which is a research team, made up of researchers undertaking work around alcohol and public health and enjoys collaborating with and contributing to other projects within the team.
