James Caldwell Research Doctoral Scholarship

We are offering a full-time Research Doctoral Scholarship in the School of Computing. The scholarship has been partially sponsored by Professor James Caldwell, Adjunct Professor, Department of Mathematics, City University of Hong Kong.
Professor Caldwell was awarded his PhD in applied mathematics from Teesside Polytechnic in 1974 and received a Higher Doctorate from the University in 2007.
The scholarship is open to School of Computing master’s graduates only and will be awarded to the most deserving student based on their academic achievement. The scholarship will be aligned to areas of research strength within the Digital Futures Institute:
- intelligent virtual environments
- formal methods and programming.
The award will be for a period of three years and includes fees (home/EU or international rate) and an annual stipend of £12,600. Successful applicants should be in a position to take up the scholarship in September 2009 or shortly after.
In addition to a School of Computing master’s degree, applicants should have at least an upper second class honours degree or equivalent qualification. The minimum English language entry level is IELTS 6.5 with no grade below 6.0 or equivalent.
