Dr Helen Carney's research interests include:

  • microbiology of polluted and extreme environments
  • bioremediation of polluted environments
  • developing molecular techniques for analysing microbial ecology
  • using nano-materials in remediation
  • developing chemical analysis and biosensor techniques for assessing contaminated land and water
  • developing 'green and biodegradable' products in manufacturing.
