Funded by Cleveland Fire Brigade, this contracted pilot research project will investigate the underlying reasons why the Cleveland region has the highest rate of fire-setting in England.
Fire-setting is practiced mainly by young people, and initial reports from Brigade staff suggest that the practice has been culturally normalized in the Cleveland region. TCRC researchers will investigate this possibility and provide a full report to the Cleveland Fire Brigade with a view to conducting further research into multi-agency responses to the problem and a coordinated strategy aimed at significantly reducing the rate of fire-setting.
There is a wealth of research projects taking place to further knowledge and make an impact on people's lives.
