This project is funded by Government Office North East and is a collaborative study shared by the Social Futures Institute's Urban Lab and Regeneration Exchange.
Background
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister established the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund to develop new interventions and practices in communities to improve the delivery of health, education, work and housing and to reduce crime and anti social behaviour. Fourteen of the north east's Local Strategic Partnerships (LSP) have been allocated Neighbourhood Renewal (NR) funding.
Aims
- The aim of this project is to explore good practice arising from a range of interventions across the region.
- The case studies we research in areas of health, housing, crime, education and worklessness will be published on the ODPM renewal.net website.
Methods
- The research team intend to interview all 14 LSP managers in the north east to get an overall impression of the strategies underlying local strategic partnership plans and the local rationale for the allocation of NR funds.
- This will be followed by the research of case studies in each of the LSPs on good practice in a range of interventions in each area.
Key findings
- The case studies researched in areas of health, housing, crime, education and worklessness are available.
Case studies on the Regeneration Exchange website
Impact
- A good practice guide will be produced by the Institute to inform the development of new interventions in NR funded projects.
- Seminars and presentations will be made to LSP managers to present key findings of the project - emphasising what works best in the development and mainstreaming of initiatives.
