Social Futures Institute
Dr Kevin Dixon is a Senior Lecturer of Sports Sociology. Kevin has worked at Teesside since 2005 and is an active member of the Social Futures Institute. In 2014 he was entered (as part of a group of researchers) into the Research Exercise Framework (a national assessment of the quality of UK research) under unit 22 ‘Social Work and Social Policy’. This Teesside University submission was ranked joint 5th in the country from 62 submissions on this quality measure.
Dr Dixon continues to teach on Sport and Exercise degree programmes. He is currently supervising a number of PhD students and is always happy to discuss applications for postgraduate research.
Kevin has published widely on a range of subjects including: celebrity, consumption, qualitative research methods, social theory, fandom, hooliganism, corruption, legacy, gender, ethnicity, surveillance, and disability relative to sport. He specialises in the social scientific study of football.
