Hilary Jenkins did her first degree in English Literature and Language at Somerville College, Oxford, and followed this with an MLitt on Reason and Imagination in Children's Literature 1790-1840. She then taught in India, China and Saudi Arabia before joining the British Council as an adviser for ELT and Literature Teaching projects. She did her MA in Creative Writing and Personal Development at the University of Sussex, and has taught Creative Writing at Sussex, the Open University and the Open College of the Arts. She joined the Department of Design, Culture and the Arts in September 2016 as a Senior Lecturer and teaches on the MA Creative Writing (Distance Learning). She writes fiction and poetry, and has a special interest in writing and wellbeing.
