About Gabriel Adegbite

Dr Gabriel Adegbite is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Accounting and Finance in the School of Social Science, Business and Law. He joined Teesside University after a distinguished career as a researcher, associate lecturer, visiting lecturer, lecturer and research supervisor amongst others with various Universities in the UK and abroad where he held positions. Among such Universities are: Edinburgh Napier University, University of Manchester, Glasgow Caledonian University, University of Sunderland and University of Northumbria etc. He is a regular researcher of the Institute of Global Law and Policy of the Harvard Law School, Harvard University, United States. He is also a visiting Professor to a number of Universities in Eastern Europe and Africa. Prior to his academic career, he worked as an accountant both in the UK and abroad.

Dr Gabriel Adegbite obtained his PhD in Accounting and Finance from the Glasgow Caledonian University, having previously earned both his MA International Accounting and BA (Hons) Business Administration from the Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne. He is also an Accounting graduate from one of the prestigious institutions in West Africa. He researches and consults in broad areas of accounting and finance such as: corporate governance, business regulations, ethics, corporate social responsibility, risk management, audit etc. His experiences cover developed, emerging and developing economies. He has published a number of journals in these areas.


Dr Gabriel Adegbite teaches in both core and non core areas of accounting and finance at Teesside University such as: management accounting, financial accounting, and contemporary issues in accounting: corporate governance, public sector accounting, research method, environmental accounting etc. He also supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. He is a regular guest speaker in many international conferences. He is also a member of various professional bodies. He plays and produces music in his spare time as a recording artist.
