Centre for Strategy and Leadership (CfSL)

Academic excellence and promoting understanding

Business and Management Studies is a recognised area of research excellence within the University and is focussed in the Centre for Strategy and Leadership (CfSL) which reflects the strengths and collective identity of a coherent group of research-active staff.

CfSL has achieved high quality research outputs and funding, a significant increase in research degree completions and demonstrable impacts outside of academia.

In a period of significant global and local economic challenges and in this new era of socio-economic restructuring and realignment, during which both private and public organisations are having to change radically and to innovate, there is an urgent need for research which can inform policy and practice and support leaders who are trying to respond to these challenges - as well as to empower and inform individuals who take on the risk and personal responsibility of being entrepreneurial and innovative in various contexts.

The Centre for Strategy and Leadership responds to this need by undertaking cutting-edge research, often in collaboration with practitioners and policymakers.

CfSL is a multi-disciplinary research centre with research strengths including leadership and organizational change, marketing, entrepreneurship, and fraud and financial crime. These types of impact align with these research strengths in an iterative process, whereby the impact informs each informing the other. CfSL links researchers with practitioners to provide opportunities for ongoing dialogues and relationships and enable high quality research outputs and impact in the aforementioned key areas.
