Sustainable technology programme

This programme provides heavily subsidised support for the uptake of clean technology in SMEs to make them more competitive.

Our projects

    Fluke meter
  • Eco-product support: eco-design avoids pollution at the drawing board, delivering product differentiation and keeping well ahead of the advance of legislation.
  • Eco-building: provides advice on new build and renovation projects covering issues such as passive solar design, materials selection, energy efficiency and natural daylighting techniques.
  • Waste minimisation: a manufacturing company typically spends 4-10% of turnover on waste - approximately ten times the disposal cost once all indirect costs are accounted for. This helps you reduce the cost of your waste through audits or workshops.
  • Energy efficiency: provides advice on the Climate Change Levy to reduce costs over a wide range of levels, from simple housekeeping measures through to waste energy recovery systems.
  • Business opportunities in recycling and composting: the introduction of the landfill tax, packaging regulations and other legislation have opened up new opportunities

The SME support programme is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Teesside University. Companies may be asked to contribute towards the cost of support.
