BEng, MSc, PhD
Dr Ruixue Cheng received her BEng and MSc degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Northeast University China, and University of Science and Technology Beijing China, respectively, and her PhD degree in gas-solids flow measurement from the University of Teesside, UK.
She started her academic career at the University of Science and Technology, Beijing as a Lecturer in in the Automation department in 1991. She joined Teesside University in 1994 as a Research Assistant, followed by 2 years as a Research Fellow, working on the research projects of solids-gas flow metering system development which were funded by EU, DTI and Industry. In 1999 she joined ABB Automation Ltd in Gloucestershire in the UK as flow meter design and development engineer. She has been to many coal fired power stations commissioning developed instrumentation systems at ABB.
Her research work won the National Metrology prize in recognition of clean fuel combustion technology development for coal fired power station. She has 4 patents on pulverised fuel metering systems and signal processing techniques. She has published over 40 academic papers in journals and international conference in the area of solids gas flow measurement. She is a reviewer for journal sensor technology.
She returned to Education as a Lecturer in 2008 and has been teaching Instrumentation, Statistics and Mathematics subjects to undergraduates and postgraduates.
Her research interests include flow, multi-phase flow measurement, sensing techniques and measurement technology development, signal processing and mathematical modelling.
