Activities for Year 11 students

These events and activities encourage Year 11 students to progress to further and higher education. We have many informative events for young people to take part in.

Girls and gadgets conference

This event provides girls with the opportunity to gain hands-on computing experience and develop an understanding of both the creative and technical skills involved. The conference, which features guest speakers, allows pupils to find out more about the range of careers within this area. Places are limited, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students into schools

The student volunteers into schools programme provides additional support for teaching staff working in primary, secondary and further education.

Teesside University students, with a keen interest in working with young people, can come to your school or college to work with your students through one-to-one mentoring, small group work or supporting the teacher within the classroom.

There is no charge to the school for taking a student volunteer and each work placement will be negotiated between the school and the student before the placement starts. Each student is asked to commit to a minimum of a six week placement working a minimum of two hours per week.
