SAM Set to Become UK Accrediting Partner for Hyper Island

The School of Arts & Media is working with Hyper Island to accredit a Postgraduate award which will be delivered from their new premises in Manchester (a former industrial warehouse in the heart of the creative quarter) from May 2011.

Hyper Island is one of the leading global education and training providers within interactive and digital media. Since starting up in Sweden in 1995, it has established an international reputation for the quality of its distinctive brand of industry led, innovative creative learning programmes with more than two thousand Hyper Island graduates employed in high profile digital media companies across the world. In 2008, 92% of the Hyper Island students were offered jobs before they graduated; typically with advertising and digital agencies, content companies and large media organisations. Hyper Island has offices in Stockholm, London and New York producing bespoke Master Classes, Leadership, Organisation & Team Development and Creativity Labs for clients including: MTV, McCann, TBWA, Channel 4, Wieden Kennedy, BBH, Gyro and Unilever.

It is a real coup for Arts & Media to be working with Hyper Island on this project. The relationship came about as a result of Teesside University’s status as a Skillset Media Academy, and the work the School of Arts Media has been doing with international companies such as Endemol. In October last year the University accredited Hyper Island’s Accidental Leaders and Accidental Managers courses which were delivered to heads of Digital Media companies from across the UK.

The pilot course is set to be delivered in May 2011 with high profile industry partners and an innovative new approach to delivery cutting-edge learning for the creative, interactive and communications industries.
