Nursery
Our 66-place nursery is for children of students and staff, from six weeks to five years. There is a high demand for places and we have a waiting list.
If you are a part-time student or member of staff, you can use the nursery but you may be restricted to the times when you are timetabled to study or be at work.
The nursery is on Park Road North, Middlesbrough which is a ten minute walk from the main campus.
A happy, safe environment
We provide an environment that is welcoming, happy, safe and secure, and where children will enjoy their time while learning through a wide variety of spontaneous and planned activities. Children gain independence and confidence from these learning opportunities which are based on their own different interests and needs.
We acknowledge that parents know their children better than anyone else. By sharing information, staff are better prepared to plan experiences that suit your child.
Our nursery team
We have an experienced team of practitioners - all are qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education or above. Apart from the two senior practitioners, staff rotate between both the Baby and Pre-school units every term.
Ofsted requires our staffing ratios to be:
- Children aged 0–2 years - one member of staff to three children
- Children aged 2-3 years - one member of staff to four children
- Children aged 3-5 years - one member of staff to eight children.
Meals
We provide morning milk and a snack, a two-course lunch and afternoon tea for the children. We will cater for any individual dietary or personal needs where possible - you are requested to inform us of definite dislikes, allergies or special dietary requirements.
We ask that parents of young babies supply their own choice of formula until a follow-on formula is suitable which we can supply, along with early weaning foods. We display a daily menu in the nursery.
Opening hours
The nursery is open on weekdays from 8.15am to 6.00pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8.15am to 5.15pm on a Friday throughout the academic year.
The morning session runs from 8.15am until 1.15pm. The afternoon session is from 1.30pm until 6.00pm.
Outside term time, the nursery is only open to staff children. It is open 8.15am to 5.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8.15am to 5.15pm on a Friday. The nursery is closed for public holidays and for a two-week period over Christmas and New Year.
Costs
The charges are:
- £16.80 per half day session and £31.50 per full day session
- £141.75 per week for a full week, Monday to Friday
- £71.00 per week for 5 consecutive half day sessions, Monday to Friday.
A pre-payment of £54 will be required to reserve a nursery place at the time of booking. This will be deducted from the total of your first invoice.
