Student halls network

Free internet access is available in each student room in University managed residences. For you to use this service your computer needs to meet the required University software standard.

The following versions of software are currently supported on the network:

Windows:

  • Win 2000 (service pack >=4 required)
  • Win XP ( service pack >=2 required)
  • Win XP x64 (service pack >=1 required)
  • Win Vista
  • Win Vista x64
  • Win 7
  • Win 7 x64

MACs

  • 10.4 Tiger (requires at least version 5)
  • 10.5 Leopard
  • 10.6 Snow-Leopard
  • 10.7 Lion

Anti-virus and anti-spyware

A valid and up to date copy of anti-virus and anti-spyware software must be installed on your computer, in order to access the University Halls Student Halls network.

You will be given a user ID and password on enrolment. This will enable you to use the internet service. Connection is very straightforward. Full instructions are provided.
