‘Become the Commentator’ competition

The Universities Week competition to become an Olympic commentator is now open.

More information

The competition is being run in conjunction with the National Union of Students (NUS) and will see one lucky student get the chance to commentate in front of thousands of spectators at the Olympic Stadium, as part of the BUCS Visa Outdoor Athletics Championships on Saturday 5 May during Universities Week 2012.

Entrants need to be full-time students and can enter by 1) uploading a 90 second clip of themselves commentating at a local sports event to YouTube and 2) filling in the entry form on the Universities Week website.

Three finalists will be chosen to come to London and receive coaching from one of the country’s best known sports commentators John Inverdale, before one winner gets to commentate to thousands in the stadium.

The competition closes at midnight on Monday 9 April 2012 and the three finalists will be notified by 15 April 2012, but must be free to travel to London on Saturday 5th May (travel and accommodation will be arranged for the three finalists if outside of London).
