Night life
Middlesbrough has a far-reaching reputation
When it comes to great nights out you can't beat the Boro.
Award-winning Students' Union
The hub of student night life is our award-winning Students' Union. No wonder we are in the UK's top five universities for Students' Union satisfaction (National Student Survey 2012). Rock nights, cheesy pop, 60s, 70s and 80s nights, R&B, karaoke - it's the place to be.

Best bars
There's a great choice of bars right at the heart of the campus - drop in to the Dickens Inn or The Star along Southfield Road.
Middlesbrough Empire
Dance until dawn at Middlesbrough Empire's famed Sugarshack dance nights - recent DJs include Mark Ronson, Roger Sanchez, John Kelley and Erick Morillo. Indie and live music nights feature heavily too - Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys, Scissor Sisters and Toots & the Maytals.
Rock, pop and comedy
For mainstream rock and pop there's Middlesbrough Town Hall - everything from Oasis and James to Mel C. Top comedy names include Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle and Dara O'Briain.

Fact
Intro is the festival to attract big name bands including Razorlight and Editors.
Night of clubs
The Arena has played host to Sex Pistols, Oasis and The Libertines - it's great for clubbing and live music. Other club nights are at The Cornerhouse, The Keys and Harvey's.
Revellers from all over the UK fill the legendary Club M at Yarm, at weekends. Uncle Albert's and Doctor Browns have a lively music menu and a friendly gay scene thrives at a number of venues.
Fun alternatives
For a different kind of evening there's ten-pin bowling at Teesside Shopping Park where you'll also find an array of themed restaurants. Two multi-screen cinemas mean you'll never be short of something to watch and Middlesbrough has a temptingly wide selection of restaurants and places to eat.
