About | Initial Research Training

These sessions will cover the basic elements of what is involved in beginning your research degree, and touch on what you are likely to encounter as you move through the degree process towards completion. The course aims to support you as you prepare to use the first year of study productively and to prepare to submit a report for Progression at the end of the first year.

The issues involved in effective research practice will be covered as well as those aspects of research which are essential to study at this level, such as literature review and methodology. The session will include information and presentation of material and discussion. Initial Training is suitable for both full-time and part-time students and is compulsory for all new research degree candidates.
