There is a growing need for managers who understand the relationship between business and law.
You develop a broad-based knowledge of business theory and practice (70%) and specialise in legal processes (30%). You gain lots of practical, hands-on experience of real-world business, and benefit from the extensive professional and industrial involvement of our team of supportive, expert staff.
What you study
Year 1 introduces you to the key concepts associated with business as well as providing a strong foundation of knowledge in law.
Year 2 extends this to enable you to develop your critical understanding of the subject area and the inter-relationships between the different business and law subjects. During this year you develop a broader European perspective to the study of law.
Between Year 2 and your final year, you have the option of undertaking a placement in industry or studying abroad at one of our American or European partner universities.
The final year explores more advanced topics within the areas of business and law and you develop your awareness of the process of change within organisations. You have the opportunity to put your knowledge into action by undertaking a self-managed independent project.
How you learn
Modules are taught via lectures, seminars, practical workshops and group work. Teaching staff adopt a range of web-based technologies to deliver module content, assess, provide feedback and communicate with students.
How you are assessed
The programme is assessed via a variety of methods including assignments, examinations, group work, presentations and live practical projects.
Work placement/study abroad year
Between Year 2 and your final year, you have the opportunity to spend a year in industry on placement, or study abroad at one of our partner institutions. Alternatively you could proceed to the final year.
Professional accreditation
Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates will be guaranteed the offer of Associate Member status, or with three years' managerial experience, full Member status, from the Chartered Management Institute.
Career opportunities
You will be able to follow careers in a wide range of fields across all sectors of business and industry. A professional qualification is also a popular next step.
Entry requirements
A typical offer is 240 tariff points from at least two A levels (or equivalent), together with maths and English at GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent).
