2012 entry

Why was the Greek economy close to collapse? How does a crisis like this affect the Euro? What does this mean for the UK? We live in a global world - the world’s economies are increasingly interdependent. Today’s managers must have a sophisticated understanding of the complexities of the international marketplace.

You develop a solid knowledge of business and management theories, and a broad range of business and personal skills directly relevant to any business environment. You have the opportunity to study a foreign language (or develop existing skills) and study abroad between Year 2 and your final year – an experience that will really help you stand out from the crowd.

What you study

Year 1 is mainly tutor led and focuses on providing you with the necessary underpinning in terms of broad business knowledge and skills at foundation level. It also introduces key business and management concepts.

Year 2 takes a more student-led approach with an emphasis on exploring your own interests and deepening your insights as well as having more responsibility for your own learning. During this Year you develop a broader international perspective to the study of business.

Between Year 2 and your final year, you have the option of undertaking a placement in industry or studying abroad at one of our American or European partner universities.

The final year explores more advanced topics within the areas of business and management and there is a greater emphasis upon critical thinking and your ability to plan and manage your own learning as an individual and as part of a group. Upon completion of this year, you are able to undertake work independently.

How you learn

Modules are taught via lectures, seminars, practical workshops and group work. Teaching staff adopt a range of web-based technologies to deliver module content, assess, provide feedback and communicate with students.

How you are assessed

The programme is assessed via a variety of methods including assignments, examinations, group work, presentations and live practical projects.

Work placement/study abroad year

Between Year 2 and your final year, you have the opportunity to spend a year in industry on placement, or study abroad at one of our partner institutions. Alternatively you could proceed to the final year.
