Marketing is the process where goods and services move from concept to customer. It is fast paced, dynamic and fundamental to business. Advertising is one of the ways these goods and services are brought to public attention.

Gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of key marketing and business concepts, while developing your interpersonal, analytical, creative and practical skills. And gain a broad-based introduction to marketing and business subjects in Year 1, developing more specialist knowledge in Years 2 and 3.

Employers tell us that one of the key things they look for when interviewing is proving you can work effectively in a team. This will also benefit your studies and future career.

What you study

Year 1 of the course provides a broad-based introduction to marketing and business subjects. Year 2 allows you to develop your knowledge and understanding of key concepts further, and to apply them in a variety of different situations. This enables you to continue the specialisation begun in Year 1. The final year integrates all the knowledge and experience from Years 1 and 2 and you apply this with a strong management focus.

Between Year 2 and your final year, you have the option of undertaking a placement in industry or studying abroad at one of our American or European partner universities.

How you learn

A wide variety of teaching strategies appropriate to each module is used, including formal lectures and tutorials, workshops, guest speakers and live projects.

How you are assessed

Assessment methods include assignments, team and individual project work, presentations, portfolios and examinations.

Work placement/study abroad year

Between Year 2 and your final year you have the opportunity to spend a year in industry on placement or study abroad at one of our partner institutions. Alternatively you could proceed to the final year.

This course opens up career opportunities in either discipline in areas such as working for an agency or a corporate company.
