Live projects
An important aspect of all our work is the opportunity you have to undertake live projects through our close working relationships with local and national media organisations. We are partnered with the BBC's Connect and Create project which enables our students to work with a variety of BBC departments as part of their coursework. We also work closely with a range of partners from small independent film companies to major newspaper groups to provide you with access to real-world experiences and real-world contacts.
First-class facilities
The University offers professional-standard technical, production, teaching and research facilities plus a dedicated team of specialist staff who are involved in diverse commercial production activities, as well as supporting you throughout your studies.
Our established Media Centre houses a large television studio, radio broadcast facilities, six air-conditioned video edit suites and a separate post-production teaching facility as well as tapeless HD video cameras.
Our new £10m Centre for Creative Technologies, which incorporates an HD TV studio, radio recording and edit facilities and the first purpose-built convergent newsroom in a UK university, provides you with one of the country's best teaching and learning environments in all digital aspects of media.

Practical skills form the basis of these courses and you’ll be fully prepared for an exciting career in the media industries. In addition to the possibilities offered by journalism and TV and radio production, you may also consider IT, public relations, marketing, publishing and research.
