Teesside University was amongst the first group of institutions to be awarded this status.

Live projects

BBC logo An important aspect of all our work is the opportunity you have to undertake live projects through our close working relationships with local and national media organisations. We have a formal partnership with the BBC, which enables you to work with a variety of BBC departments as part of your coursework. You also benefit from our special relationship with Channel 4, who have adopted us as their chosen Media Academy, and from our partnership with the Trinity Mirror newspaper group. The work we do with a range of other partners, from small independent film companies to national newspapers provides you with access to real-world experiences and real-world contacts.

First-class facilities

The University offers professional-standard technical, production, teaching and research facilities plus a dedicated team of specialist staff who are involved in diverse commercial production activities, as well as supporting you throughout your studies.

Our Media Centre houses a large HD television studio, radio broadcast facilities, six air-conditioned video edit suites and a separate post-production teaching facility as well as tapeless HD video cameras. Our Centre for Creative Technologies, incorporates an HD TV news studio, radio recording and edit facilities and the first purpose-built convergent newsroom in a UK university, providing you with one of the country's best teaching and learning environments in all digital aspects of media.
