Should men and women get equal prize money for winning Wimbledon? Should participation in all sports be encouraged regardless of background Should strict controls be introduced to ensure football clubs are owned by fit and proper persons, and not laden with debt?
You explore these questions and more.
You take a close look at the cultural, sociological and political environment which surrounds sport, and how money and the media produce and portray role models like David Beckham, Tiger Woods and Tanni Grey-Thompson.
Allied to this, you explore the nature of sport from a scientific, historical and social perspective, including issues such as drug taking, gender, racism and cheating in sport. Is sport a microcosm of wider society, and what value is there in increasing the public’s participation in sport and exercise?
