Fitness instruction is a popular and growing area of employment. The health of the nation is a big issue, with more and more schemes being implemented to encourage us to lead a more active lifestyle.

Keeping sportsmen and women off the treatment table is becoming more and more important in the competitive world of sport. Preventative and recuperative massage is very much in demand.

You learn about the anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as how to recognise and treat common sports injuries. You also learn key business skills so that your passage into employment or self-employment is as smooth as possible.

This is an award of Teesside University delivered in partnership with Middlesbrough College at their Middlehaven campus (campus code 2, call 01642 333333).

How you learn

This degree uses a wide range of learning and teaching methods including practical sessions in the field, laboratory work, lectures, seminars, group work and work-related learning.

How you are assessed

Assessments are work related, varied and timely to allow the greatest opportunity to succeed on this vocationally and academically challenging programme. They take the form of practical and written examinations, essays and laboratory reports, and verbal presentations.
