Long Covid support service

23 March 2021

We are now developing a new service to support students experiencing the ongoing effects of having had Covid19.

Long Covid is a new condition and more is being learned about it every day. It is affecting people in many different ways. As a result, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has produced guidance which adopts a 'living' approach in order to reflect the evolving evidence-base.

Here at Teesside University we are developing a new service to support students experiencing the ongoing effects of having had Covid19. There are a variety of services outside of the university in the NHS and the local community, also being developed, and this service aims to complement these, with the longer term plan being to have clear referrals in and out between these services. The service currently offers virtual appointments on MS Teams where students can chat to a student adviser to identify any support they need in the short, and also in the longer term. The service aims to meet the individual needs of students including health, lifestyle and study needs.

The service is in the early stages, and is developing, as we learn more about long covid and the related students’ needs. If you have had Covid19 and are continuing to experience any health, lifestyle of study-related challenges, you can make an appointment with the Long Covid Service by emailing studentwellbeing@tees.ac.uk
