Submission guidelines and publications
Key dates/requirements
- Submission deadline for abstracts for consideration by the programme peer review committee is 15 September 2026 via EasyChair.
- All abstracts should be between 300-350 words. This excludes references.
- Peer review and feedback on abstracts: 25 September 2026.
- Submission of final version of abstracts to be published: 10 October 2026.
- Conference registration for speakers: 10 October 2026.
Submission types
- Design case studies and poster presentations.
- Full research papers
- 4000-6000 words by 24 February 2027 for inclusion into Best Paper award competition and, upon completion of peer review, to be published in the conference proceedings.
- Short papers / works in progress
- 3000-4000 words by 24 February 2027 for inclusion into Best Paper award competition and, upon completion of peer review, to be published in the conference proceedings.
- Provocations or position papers
- 1500-2000 words by 24 February 2027 for inclusion into Best Paper award competition and, upon completion of peer review, to be published in the conference proceedings.
- Experimental sessions or research-informed workshops
- Full papers of 4000-6000 words by 24 February 2027 for inclusion into Best Paper award competition and, upon completion of peer review, to be published in the conference proceedings.
- Short paper/work in progress of 3000-4000 words by 24 February 2027 for inclusion into Best Paper award competition and, upon completion of peer review, to be published in the conference proceedings.
Submissions should:
- address one or more conference themes
- semonstrate clarity of purpose and relevance
- provide evidence of impact, insight, or innovation
- articulate implications for practice, policy, or further research
- be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
Accepted papers and abstracts will be published in the Science Open conference collection proceedings Future Facing Learning with DOIs.
Selected papers may be invited to submit to be published in a Springer Nature special issue.
The use of AI-generated text in an article shall be disclosed in the acknowledgements section of any paper submitted to the conference. The sections of the paper that use AI-generated text shall have a citation to the AI system used to generate the text.
Submission information for presenters/speakers/facilitators
Abstract submission
- When submitting via EasyChair, please clearly identify and mark the corresponding author(s) and presenting author(s).
- When completing the affiliation for each author, please provide the name of the institution/organisation/company.
- If applicable, please also ensure that all co-authors are listed, with correct contact details and affiliation provided.
- Please note that all correspondence regarding the submission will be sent only to those marked as corresponding authors via the email address(es) provided, who will act as the main point(s) of contact.
Speaker terms and conditions
Speakers accepted through the Call for Proposal must register for the conference at the speaker rate of GBP 300 (plus VAT), by the deadline communicated by the Organising Committee.
The registration fee includes:
- refreshments across all three days
- lunches across all three days
- hot food and drinks on the first and second evenings.
Speakers must ensure they have sufficient funding for:
- conference registration
- travel to Middlesbrough, UK
- accommodation in Middlesbrough, UK.
If their proposal is accepted, speakers agree to:
- collaborate with the organisers around deadlines
- consider guidelines, suggestions, and possible adaptations to the format and content of their session
- provide slides/content in advance of the conference.
Accepted speakers should be aware that their name, submitted biography and submitted photograph may be used by the Organising Committee for promotional purposes and to inform participants about the event agenda.
