How long have you been a student ambassador for?

Three years.

Why did you want to become a student ambassador?

I was looking for a job that could benefit me and help me gain a lot of new skills. I was also new in town and wanted to meet a lot of people so my friends suggested that becoming an ambassador would be a good idea.

What sort of work have you been involved with?

I’ve been involved in residential summer schools, mentoring, open days, UCAS exhibitions and motivational visits. I’ve led many workshops and represented Teesside in a number of local schools and college. I was also given the opportunity to do an animation tour around local schools.

What’s the best part of your role as an ambassador?

The best part about it is the people we meet, the new things we learn and the experiences that we gain. Also the fact that the team becomes more of a family that supports you with everything.

What’s your favourite thing about Teesside?

Everything!

For an international student it was worrying to move to a different country but Teesside felt like home. Teesside has helped me to develop and grow as an individual and it’s made me live up to my true potential.

What would you say to anyone thinking about applying to the ambassador programme?

I’ve been an ambassador for three years, I’m now starting my fourth, and I feel like that’s not enough. Apply as soon as you can, don’t hesitate. The team is so friendly and welcoming. Just do it!
