How long have you been a student ambassador for?

One year. I wish I had started sooner as it’s a truly amazing job!

Why did you want to become a student ambassador?

I wanted to build my skills, enhance my CV and meet new people. Student ambassadors really helped me when I was deciding which university to study at and I wanted to help in the same way. I enjoy providing University information, particularly about my course – I am so passionate about it.

What sort of work have you been involved with?

I’ve worked at open days and events during welcome week. My favourite job has been the Year 12 residential summer school, working with a group of visiting students, ensuring they had the best time possible whilst promoting the University and our courses.

What’s the best part of your role as an ambassador?

The flexibility of the role and the variety of the work available. As a student nurse with limited time for part-time work this is a great benefit. I also met lots of other student ambassadors on this job and made some amazing friends.

What’s your favourite thing about Teesside?

The cost of living is great and everyone here is so friendly. I’ve made lots of friends on my course, in my halls and through my work as an ambassador. Teesside is a great place to meet new people.

What would you say to anyone thinking about applying to the ambassador programme?

Just go for it. I wish I had known about the programme sooner. You will meet so many people, make great memories and build endless skills to enhance your CV. The application process if very straightforward, so go and apply.
