Course overview

This module is an introduction to animation and visual effects for people with little or no previous experience. You will be introduced to the 3D animation and visual effects process: animation, modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering and compositing.

This course will be delivered online. Please check the entry requirements tab before making your application to ensure you meet the entry criteria and have all the minimum equipment necessary to take part.

Starts Monday 6 July, Mondays & Wednesdays for four weeks, 6.00pm-9.00pm.

Sessions will be delivered via online video tutorials and live demonstrations. Online tutorials will be made available prior to the sessions.

You can study up to 30 credits at Summer University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please let us know by emailing summer.university@tees.ac.uk.

How you are assessed

Students will submit a portfolio of videos which will demonstrate understanding of techniques covered in the classes.

The assessment will be released at the start of the module.

 
 

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

As this is an online course it is necessary that you have access to a computer and that you are comfortable learning via an online platform.

Minimum software requirements
- Autodesk Maya (available free for students)
- Nuke (non-commercial available free)
- Adobe Photoshop or Gimp (open source)

In order to ensure you can run the above software, please check the hardware requirements outlined on the Autodesk Maya website here.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or equivalent.
