Course overview

Learn the world of game engines. This course introduces future artists and game designers to professional working practices for creating engaging 3D environments within a game engine. Learn the fundamentals in creating meshes, materials and textures to become a game designer or artist. The course uses engaging and easy to understand processes that any newcomer can get to grips with. The first step in getting into the games industry starts here.

Indicative content

  • Know your Game Engine

  • Creating 3D environments within a game engine

  • Creating meshes, materials and texture

  • Importing assets into an engine

  • How you are assessed

    100% in course assessment on a pass/fail basis

    Students will be required to submit a portfolio of development work demonstrating a range of skills required for developing a Game Engine asset. The work will be completed throughout the module during studio sessions with additional work being completed outside of class item
