Introduction to Counselling Skills

 

Course overview

This course introduces you to counselling and communication skills. It includes basic questioning and listening skills and outlines how these abilities can be used in training for counselling.

Group B (Now full) - Starts Tuesday 7 July, Tuesdays & Thursdays for four weeks, 6.00pm-9.00pm.
This course will be delivered online. Please check the entry requirements tab before making your application to ensure you meet the entry criteria and have all the minimum equipment necessary to take part.

This course is delivered through a combination of live elements and pre-recorded material. Tutor support will be available throughout the specified weekly times.

You can study up to 30 credits at Summer University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please let us know by emailing summer.university@tees.ac.uk.

How you are assessed

Component 1 - Workbook (50%)
Your workbook comprises work completed each week after the online sessions.

Component 2 - 1000 word evaluation of a recorded counselling session (50%)
You will observe a 15 minute recorded counselling session and will complete an evaluation of the counselling skills applied in the session.

Entry requirements

As this is an online course it is necessary that you have access to a computer and that you are comfortable learning via an online platform.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or equivalent.
