Course overview

This module refreshes and deepens social care and education workers’ knowledge of attachment theory. It seeks to apply this theory to practice, to look at some practical strategies and methods that we can use in direct work or indirectly in advisory work with parents and carers.

How do attachment difficulties affect children's relationships?
The developing brain.
Developmental trauma.
Stress, hyper-vigilance and dissociation.
Reconnecting with children.
Introduction to therapeutic approaches to support positive attachments.
