You learn about the 3D animation process including animation, modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering. Learn more about the animation industry and research creative career paths for students.
You receive a six-week lesson plan that you can teach your pupils immediately.
You need access PC or laptop, internet with software provided by the University.

You complete creative 3D animation technical exercises through the development of a finished piece. You discuss idea generation and development through concept art and storyboarding, and upskill knowledge in 3D modelling, shading, texturing, animation and rendering. You are introduced to the animation sector and made aware of areas like film studies, game studios, stop motions, user interfaces and visual effects.
You learnthrough a blend of demonstrations and video tutorials as well as autonomous exploration of tools and techniques. You are expected to work on the research element of the assessment on your own time as well as in the studio.

Formative feedback is provided in class sessions.
Online support throughout the module is available.
The assessment consists of two elements:
Element 1 (60%) - you submit a finished 5-10 second stop-motion animation sequence which demonstrates your understanding of the 3D animation process
Element 2 (40%) - a 10-minute presentation on the UK animation industry and career paths for students.
You are assessed on a pass/fail basis.
You must work for any size of company or sector in Durham.
