Course overview

You explore contemporary art through eight topics that inspire, reflect and engage with the subject. You go on a journey into the international art and exhibitions of today that investigates all aspects of the world around us, starting with how we you view yourself through self-portraiture and the wallpaper in your rooms.

You look at how artists engage with pop culture and sport in their work. You also look at the ocean, environmental issues and the effects of climate change. You survey cats and dogs in contemporary artwork. You discuss work, labour and the art industry, ending on visions of the future in science fiction. Through the work of contemporary artists, you are introduced to a variety of materials, media, techniques and technology used, often at the same time, including painting, sound, sculpture, film, digital and performance.

You learn through a combination of live sessions and pre-recorded elements. Tutor support is available throughout the specified weekly times.
